The blizzard finally stopped after days. The hound on the lookout finally fell asleep after barking throughout the night. The dawn was breaking. The Kumi brothers stumbled back with a big blood-red leather jacket with a burnt mark on the collar. It was Cass's jacket. He was attacked by the wolves.
In the cold weather, our food ran out quickly. Unless it rains fish tomorrow, we'll die here. Hope my body won't be torn apart by the wolves.
The wound on my leg started to deteriorate. The Kumis brought back some mutton. It was the only food I had for a long time. They looked tired and hungry but insisted that they had already eaten. I heard a series of weird sounds at night and found that the younger Kumi was eating grassroots and there was a long scar on his shoulder.
With the increase in the temperature, the glaciers will melt and our temporary shelter cave will be gone. But the wolves are still out there. I can hear the alpha wolf's breaths in the darkness. We would never get rid of the wolves even if I didn't have the wound on my leg. All we can do is wait and hope another patrol will find us.
The glacier is melting, creating a stream flowing out from deep in the cave. Although there is still freezing wind, I had a strange warm feeling. The wolves are gone. Their white fur can no longer keep them hidden. The Kumis brought back the last piece of mutton from the melting snow. It helped us to overcome the last hard times.
The sunlight can gradually shine through the ice. According to my estimation, I will be able to set off for home after another sunrise.
