My stepfather doesn't love me. I spent the last boring ten years proving over and over again that he doesn't love me. The alliance expands in the name of peace, which requires it to show the greatest kindness to the weak party. Adopting a parentless poor boy who can be of use to them was a perfect deal.
The translation isn't going well. I'm not as familiar with the Rune text as I thought, nor am I the one who understands Rune text the most in Reykjavik, but I have to seize this opportunity... I don't want to be trapped in that damn place my whole life!

January 1 Who knows what damn weather it is out there
I almost died. A heavily infected slave didn't get bread and attempted to threat the guards with my life. I would have been strangled by the slave if the Stockholm boy didn't come to my rescue.
January 11 A sunny day according to Arvid
Me and that Stockholm boy soon became friends. According to him, we are living in Ireland and there is a huge stone table out there, where the giants supposedly drink together.
How could this naive kid join the Hanseatic League? I don't believe that there would be such a thing out there, but Arvid insists to bet with me on a beer. Boring.
Besides where I work and sleep, the basement is filled of piles of sagas waiting to be translated... I'll check out the giants' drinking table after finishing the translation.
