There are hundreds of laws recorded on a basalt stele. My friends and I spent a long time analyzing it but only managed to interpret a small part of it. Someone proposed to take the stone tablet back to Basrah, which was immediately turned down by others — The tablet was too heavy. We had to make a choice between the research material and a dozen days of supplies. The majority chose the latter.
(The writing in the middle is too crabbed to read.)
How could this happen to an expedition like us? We've got a traitor or traitors in us. He or they ganged up with the pirate ship with a black raven flag and took away all our findings. It's over.
All my efforts went down the drain... "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth". I suddenly remembered the words on the tablet.
I've heard that those pirates will transport the treasure to the northern Red Sea to sell secretly. I won't let them get away with it for the dead and our ideal!"
