The Northern attack was temporarily halted. Looks like our venturing and ambushing of the enemy's ships in the vicinity of Saint-Malo Gulf a few days ago has yielded amazing results. Our officer didn't tell us how long we would need to hold it here. Every day we await the exciting arrival of the high tide. And the day when the only tidal muddy land
that connects with the mainland is flooded will be our day of triumph. I believe we can hold it for another hundred years, if need be, as long as this Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey remains strong.
