Trembling, Jafa steps to the front. For him, it is more like a death warrant than a mission. The cone-shaped building stands like a mountain, grinding Jafa's mind into pieces and stopping his movements.
"Jafa, you are doing this for the family. You will always live in our minds."
"Think about your wife, think about your child. We'll take care of them for you."
Two members of the expedition are trying to persuade Jafa, while tightening their grip on their swords, waiting for his answer.
Jafa punches the limestone wall of the building, imprinting his blood on the white wall, like an unnamed flower.
"But, why me?", Jafa gradually calms down.
"It was a family decision. The treasures of Pharaoh lie right in there, and..."
And other brothers and sisters have sacrificed their lives so that we can stand here.
Besides, you just joined less than a year ago, Jafa.
Jafa thinks this silently in his mind as if explaining for them. Looking north, he somehow regrets his departure from Cairo—if he had stayed at home, he would be sleeping with his family in his arms.
"Jafa?"
"Yes..."
Jafa picks the torch on the ground and steps toward the stone gate made of three giant boulders. He knows that, at this point, the expedition won't let him live even if he comes out with the treasures alive. So he makes up his mind to make one last desperate effort—He's going to turn this giant building into the tomb of the whole expedition.
