The Chi of heaven and earth circulates once a year, while the Chi of the human body circulates once a day. At midnight, Yang Chi of the human body flows from the left foot, passes through the left thigh, fingers of the left hand, the left shoulder, the left brain, travels to the right brain, the right shoulder, fingers of the right hand, the right rib, and reaches the right foot at midnight the next day. At noon, Yin Chi flows from the palm of the right hand, passes through the right arm, the right shoulder, travels to the left shoulder, the left arm, the left ribs, the left foot, the left crotch, and reaches the right foot and the right ribs at noon the next day. Wherever filled with Yang Chi prospers, and Yin Qi flows between the brain and the tips of fingers and toes. The flowing of Yin and Yang continues through day and night, and affects the human body from inside out. When the flow is blocked by the accumulation of phlegm, related illnesses occur. About all the diseases, plenty of records have been made, and the origins are explained here. The weakness from phlegm accumulation either comes from congestion in the upper parts or middle parts, which blocks the circulation of Chi, stopping both the upward and downward flow and, thus harming the viscera and the body. Moreover, the Chi of the human body is vulnerable in nature. When the flow encounters accidents, and the blood gets blocked, external impacts such as wind, humidity, coldness, and heat take the chance to strike, causing diseases similar to those stemming from phlegm accumulation. For healthy people, sweats take away the heat, helping excessive Chi to leave the body automatically, and with normal bowel movements, the flow of Chi functions normally. With weakness in Yang, Yin Chi is not mobilized and fails to neutralize Yang Chi, leading to the domination of Yang and heat illnesses. With weakness in Yin, Yang Chi is not mobilized and fails to neutralize Yin Chi, leading to the domination of Yin and the coma. For Chi, the spleen cultivates it, the lungs ventilate it, the kidney discharges it, and the heart utilizes it. A healthy has five internal organs, and the liver is the only one not taking part. Take the time of spring and do good deeds in daily life, preventing the cultivation, ventilation, discharge, and utilization, and keeping the production of Chi. When weakened, the heart's lack of Chi will lead to palpitation, the lungs' lack of Chi will lead to asthma, the liver's lack of Chi will lead to dizziness, the kidney's lack of Chi will lead to waist pain, and the spleen will be the only one not affected. When digestion becomes a problem, the Chi in the human body gradually dies down. By then how can there be any Chi left to go into other organs? This is the mechanism of Chi circulation.
